Nancy Takaichi

Nancy’s work captures fleeting light and grounded stillness in landscapes, florals, and urban scenes. This project was all about creating a digital home that reflects her plein air process calm, precise, and quietly luminous. From logo and branding to photography and written content, we shaped a site that feels as personal and intentional as the paintings themselves.

The Challenge

Nancy is a plein air painter whose work captures California's landscapes with sensitivity and natural light. Her online presence needed to reflect her deep compositional practice one that values light, pattern, and place and showcase her gallery-ready work across themes like Coastal, Sierras, Floral, Urban, Country, and Still Life. The challenge: build a brand and website that felt as thoughtful as Nancy’s painting process, while making collections discoverable and approachable for collectors and gallery visitors alike.

What We Did

Brand & Logo Design

  • Crafted a calm, elegant logo and typography system that matched Nancy’s refined, observational style

  • Designed a neutral, inviting palette with soft whites and earthy tones that mirror her painted color range

  • Integrated brand tone into headers, navigation, and written sections for visual and emotional consistency

Site Structure & Layout

  • Built a site organized around her Store categories: Coastal, Country, Floral, The Sierras, Urban, Still Life, and Sold

  • Developed pages for each category that introduce the theme, feature work, and invite exploration

  • Created additional sections: Portfolio (latest and awarded works), About, Blog, Contact, Events

  • Designed a responsive layout with clean grids and generous spacing for calm browsing

Photography & Visual Storytelling

  • Shot portraits of Nancy working outdoors to bring an authentic, human touch to the site

  • Captured artworks in high-resolution detail and context, keeping the focus on light, composition, and surface

  • Paired artwork imagery with environmental or plein air vistas to reinforce her inspiration sources

Shop Structure & Storytelling

  • Built the shop around Nancy’s core painting themes: Coastal, Country, Floral, The Sierras, Urban, Still Life, and Sold Work

  • Created individual collection pages for each theme with consistent layout and structure

  • Designed each collection to open with a short intro that frames the emotional and visual essence of the work

  • Used high-resolution artwork images paired with clean grids and consistent labeling for easy browsing

  • Structured the backend so Nancy can update, archive, or move work between collections without breaking design

  • Added a clear "Sold Work" section to showcase past paintings and build credibility

  • Ensured every product page includes medium, size, and a subtle narrative helping buyers feel connected to each piece

Brand Reflections

Nancy’s work is about observing isolating light-dark patterns and composing scenes that tell bigger stories through restraint. Her site reflects that same compositional clarity: clean, spacious, and attentive. The navigation is intuitive, the color palette is soft and balanced, and the copy feels like Nancy talking about her process on location. It isn’t just a painting portfolio it’s a digital landscape primer.

Outcome

  • A refined visual identity and website that amplifies Nancy’s plein air ethos

  • Structured galleries that let visitors explore collections by theme and mood

  • A warm, storytelling tone that elevates both the art and the artist

  • An inquiry-ready, sustainable site that Nancy or her team can maintain confidently
